Succulent leaf cuttings

Growing succulents from leaves

This works for all succulents but we are showing this with jade leaves as an example

Jade and Variegated Jade Plant Growing from leaves

Prepare a small tray approx. 2 cm deep and fill with compost

Wet the compost so that is it damp

Place the Jade leaves flat on the surface of the compost with the cut edge resting against the surface

Leave for two to three days

Spray the tray every day with a spray bottle to keep the compost moist

The Jade will over a period of 3 to 4 weeks will start to grow a new plant from the cut edge of the leaf W

ait until the plant is large enough to move to a pot of its own

Once the plant has started to develop the original leaf may die off

Succulents Growing from stem cuttings Guide

Fill a pot with potting mix, and bury the stem and an inch and a half or so below the surface. Firm the soil around the cutting and keep in a warm place well lit area

Place the pot containing cutting in a dish with a small amount of water for the first week then allow the water level to fall. Water weekly in cool weather, twice weekly in hot weather.

When the cutting has grown another 5 to 8 cms and there is a good root structure it is ready to plant out
