Sansevieria cylindrica One rooted plant approx 5 inches tall 6.5cm pot
Sansevieria cylindrica One rooted plant approx 5 inches tall

Shipped in a rigid box

Will form offsets and fill a pot over time

Description

Sansevieria cylindrica has striped, elongate, smooth, greenish-gray subcylindrical leaves.

They are up to 3 cm (1 in) diameter and grow up to 2 m (7 ft) above soil.

The Spear Sansevieria grows fan-shaped, with its stiff leaves growing from a basal rosette.

The species is interesting in having subcylindical instead of strap-shaped leaves caused by a failure to express genes which would cause the cylindrical bud to differentiate dorsoventrally or produce a distinctive and familiar top and bottom surface to the leaf blade.

The 3 cm (1 in) greenish-white tubular flowers are tinged with pink.

Cultivation

The species is drought-tolerant and in captivity requires water only about once every other week during the growing season. The species was described by Wenceslas Bojer in 1837. Sansevieria cylindrica received its name from a competition in a Dutch national newspaper. It is popular as an ornamental plant as it is easy to culture and take care of in a home if given bright sunlight and other required resources - In Stock

Peperomia lilian

Shipped in a rigid box

May drop a few leaves in transit

Placement
Place your Peperomia in a room that gets a low to medium amount of natural light. She'll do well on an end table or bookshelf, or even your desk at work. Rotate the plant occasionally to encourage even growth.

Light Requirements
The Peperomia needs low to medium, indirect light. She can tolerate partial shade and will even grow under fluorescent lights. Avoid direct sunlight as it can burn the leaves.

Watering Needs
Water when the top several inches of soil are dry, about every other week. Water with fresh water lightly and slowly from above, allowing water to soak through to the roots, then tip out any excess water. Keep the leaves dry.

Temperature Preferences
Does well at room temperature between 60°F - 77°F. Cold temperatures should be avoided.

Humidity Tolerance
Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 75% or above, in summer months. In other months a normal humidity level is desired.

Repotting Needs
The plant can live happily in the provided pot for up to a year. Check if the plant is ready to be repotted by touching the soil and seeing if it has become loose, or if the roots have become overgrown. Repot using a rich, well-draining soil. Peperomia Verticillata Red Log
Peperomia Verticillata Red Log 6.5cm pot

Shipped in a rigid box

May drop a few leaves in transit

Light
Peperomia Verticillata loves bright light and will thrive in areas that receive lots of natural light throughout the day. You can place this plant on a west or south facing windowsill and direct sunlight shouldnt be a problem. However if you do notice scorching on the leaves and think that the rays might be too strong for your plant then move it back away from the window or try a different location to see what works for you.

Humidity
The Peperomia Verticillata doesnt need high levels of humidity, unless the air is very dry in your home your plant should be able to adapt to the levels of humidity in your house. If it is in a very dry room or near a heating system it may suffer but as long as thats not the case then you shouldnt need to do much regarding humidity with this plant.

Watering
Its important for this plant that you let the soil dry out between waterings as it doesnt like to be overwatered. When you water your plant you can water the soil evenly but you also dont want to drench it as this is a plant that doesnt like to have its roots sat in water. Its very important that the pot you use for this plant has good drainage for. If you struggle to know when your soil has dried out and youre not confident to do it by touch then try using a moisture meter. With a moisture meter you simply stick the metal probes into the soil and it gives you a reading. When the probe reads dry you give your plant a drink.

Soil
You will need well draining soil for this plant as it doesnt like to sit in soggy soil and like with most of our potting mixes we would strongly advise adding perlite to help with aeration. If you have visited us before then youll already know that we really Espomas perlite . We would also recommend the bottom up watering method as the plant can take on as much water as it needs. -

Caralluma hesperidum in a 6.5cm pot
Caralluma hesperidum in a 6.5cm pot

Origin and Habitat:
Orbea decaisneana subs. hesperidum is the Moroccan form of the very widely distributed Orbea decaisneana.

Habitat and ecology:
It grows dry regions along the coast from Essaouira to Sidi Ifni, and up to 150 km inland (Aoulouz). One locality was found in the Eastern Rif Mountains by Font-Quer.

It is poorly recorded and it is not known whether it is threatened by genetic erosion.

The species is poisonous and is not eaten by livestock.

Consequently, plants are found growing out in the open and untouched, even in habitats that have been degraded by goats. Due to this and its relatively extensive distribution, this Moroccan endemic is of lower conservation concern.

Description:
Orbea decaisneana subs. hesperidum (best known as Caralluma hesperidum) is the Moroccan form of Orbea decaisneana, however the two plants are quite similar and it is hard to tell apart one from the others, if not for the geographical provenance.

In accordance with the variability of the species the hesperidum subspecies is invalid and nowadays considered as a synonym.

Habit:
It is a slender much-branched perennial succulent not passing 20 cm high, forming diffuse mats to c. 50 cm in diameter, the stems decurved and rooting freely in contact with the soil.

The star shaped flowers are blackish-purple, frosted with minute white papillae.

It is a widespread and variable species Stems: Slender, cylindrical, slightly angled with conical protuberance, erect to decumbent and rooting, apically tapering, whitish green, grey-green, marbled or spotted with brown to purple, 10-40 cm long, 12-15 mm in diameter, excluding teeth, 3- to 6-ribbed, sides conspicuously furrowed.

Tubercles (the 'teeth') 7-15 mm long, strong, conical-subulate, with a slight groove among them, horizontal to ascending.

Leaves:
Rudimentary at tubercle apex; stipular denticles absent.

Inflorescence:
1-3 per stem more or less erect.

Peduncle, almost absent, cushion-like, 1- to 5(-20)-flowered, sometimes with 1 mm long filiform bracts, flowers developing in gradual succession.

Pedicels 1 - 5 mm, more or less conical up to 2(-3) mm in diameter, spreading.

Flowers:
Bisexual, regular, 5-merous, with fetid smell 8-15 mm long, 15-25 mm in diameter. Sepals3-5 mm long, acute.

Corolla, campanulate, outside cream mottled with brown, inside dark purple or reddish-brown sometimes yellow towards base of tube, flat, tube 4 (-6) x 6-8 mm in diameter, cup-shaped, embracing the corona.

Corolla-lobes 7-12 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, elongate-ovate, acute, ascending then horizontally spreading, inside glabrous to finely papillate, papillae whitish, surface appearing frosted, apically sometimes with a fine white bristle.

Margins reflexed at times with purple clavate hairs.

Corona flesh-coloured to purple 5-angled c. 4 mm x c. 5 mm. Outer lobes c. 2 mm long, pouch-like, apically often emarginate, inner lobes triangular to broadly lanceolate, c. 1 mm long, slightly longer than style head; style head pentagonal.

Pollinia ovoid, 0.5 mm long, 0.3 mm wide, large in relation to flowers size.

Chromosome number:
2n = 22

Blooming season:
Summer-autumn.

Shipped in a rigid box after being well packed

Similar in size and shape to the ones in the photos

It is a winter dormant and easy species to grow that is suited for any well drained soil in full sun.

But young plant are happy growing indoors, where they can easily reach the ceiling.

Give the plant an airy growing medium which mainly consists of non organic material such us clay, pumice, lava grit, and only a little peat or leaf-mould.

Water regularly during the active growing season from March to September.

No water should ever be allowed to stand around the roots. Keep almost completely dry in winter.

It is a moderately fast grower, and will quickly become large landscape masterpieces in just 3-7 years.

It can tolerate moderate shade, and a plant that has been growing in shade should be slowly hardened off before placing it in full sun as the plant will be severely scorched if moved too suddenly from shade into sun.

Like quite small pots, repot in very later winter, early spring.

Can be pruned for shape and branching.

Frost tender, frost free zones only. -
